The club was presented with two awards for the Rotary Year 2006/2007 from the President of Rotary international.The first was a Presidential Citation for its efforts to Lead the Way to a better future by demonstrating that fellowship and service truly can change the world. The second was Recognition of Membership Development Initiatives for its innovative approach to membership growth and development during 2006/2007 in RI District 1120.
Tuesday 26th June was an evening with our partners and the club Handover. Dave Hatcher handed over Presidency of the club to Ray Toms.
During the evening Dave Hatcher presented cheques to the following charities: £2,500 to Pat Bagley of Oliver Fisher Unit,£6,097 to Donna Wells of Demelza and £1,000 to Linda Phillips of Cerebral Palsy Care (plus a projector and Laptop).
Saturday 12th May 2007 was the Annual Presidents Ladies Night at Priestfield. The evening was very enjoyable with music provided by Bronx. David Hatcher gave a toast to the guests and Jim Boswell gave the reply on behalf of the guests.
On Tuesday 22rd May 2007 was the Annual Darts Marathon presentation held at the Cecil Arms in Strood. Bobby George was again the star attraction and played against each of the winning team. Over £6,500 should be raised for Demelza House.
On Wednesday 23rd May 2007 Members of Medway Rotary attended Minster Working Men’s Club for the Inaugural Meeting of Minster on Sea. The District Governor was there to present the embryonic club with their Rotary Badges and welcome them into Rotary.
Dave Hatcher presented the club’s incoming President with the President’s jewel which Medway donated being their sponsors.
Over the weekend of 13th - 15th April 2007 Rotary Club members and their partners spent the weekend on P&O ship Oceana, on a taster cruise to Belgium. The weekend was an enjoyable social event.
District Governor Norman Jones and his wife Eunice visited Medway on the occasion of the club's Valentines Meal. President Dave Hatcher presented a cheque for £3,000 to the District Governor for the Wheelchair Foundation. He also presented him with a cheque for £1,400 for Rotary Foundation fight against Malaria and a picture of his confinement at the Medway Police HQ
Banged up for more than 10 hours President Dave Hatcher served time locked away in a Police Cell at the new Medway Police Headquarters on Wednesday 17th January 2007. He was sponsored for time spent in the cells in aid of the Wheelchair Foundation for which they will get 60 wheelchairs.
Edenbridge Rotarian Colin Ullmann-Jones (Training School Supremo) contacted our President David Hatcher to ask whether he knew of anyone requiring hundreds of beds, mattresses, bedside lockers, easy chairs, blankets and duvets. David immediately contacted Phil Shorthouse (President of Rochester Rotary Club and Chief Executive of a charity called Blythswood) and within two weeks (30,th September) an enormous lorry and trailer had been loaded to the limit (thanks to Medway Rotary volunteers) and was on the way to a refugee camp in Kraljevo in Serbia.
A second lorry and trailer were loaded in Ashford on Monday, 23rd October.
Over the weekend of 13th - 15th October a party of 9 (11 on Saturday) were treated to the hospitality of the Rotary Club of Roubaix.
On the Saturday morning we visited the birthplace of Charles De Gaulle followed by lunch in a restaurant in Lille. In the afternoon we went to an old hospital.
On the Sunday morning we had a light lunch at Golf du Sart where Roubaix hold their weekly meetings.In the afternoon we were given a guided tour of the Musee de Beaux Arts. We then had a farewell drink in on a pavement café in the centre of Lille before departing on Eurostar back to the UK.
The first of the celebrity dinners had a very good attendance. Eric Knowles was the guest speaker and gave a very entertaining after dinner talk. Following this Eric did some valuations of antiques brought along by the people attending. The evening should make a profit of £1500 for the Oliver Fisher Baby Unit.
On Friday November 24th saw the second of our celebrity dinners. The celebrity was radio and television presenter, authoress and former presenter on Crimewatch Sue Cook. This was well attended and was an enjoyable evening. President Dave introduced her personally to all the guests. Sue signed copies of her new novel 'On Dangerous Ground' with the proceeds from the sales going to Cerebral Palsy. The total raised for Cerebral Palsy Care was over £1300.
On Saturday 15th July 2006 the Rotary Club of Medway celebrated it's 25th Anniversary with a Dinner and Summer Ball at the Commissioner's House, Historic Dockyard, Chatham.
The District Governor Norman Jones, Immediate Past District Governor Tony Hodges and Past District Governor Jim Boswell were among those attending.
Terry Spice, Peter Smith, Keith Mackenney and Euan Eddie all gave potted histories of the last twenty five years, elaborating on some of the most memorable occasions.
President David Hatcher proposed a toast to the guests and the response was made by Past District Governor Jim Boswell who was involved with the evolution of the Rotary Club of Medway.

At a ceremony held on Tuesday 27th June at Gillingham Golf Club, President Jim Foad handed over the Presidency to David Hatcher. Ray Toms became President Elect and Bob Curtis 2nd Vice. Dave Hatcher presented Jim Foad with the Past President Medal.
President Jim also presented Donna Wells from Demelza House with cheques to the value of over £10,000. The money was raised from the Annual Darts Marathon.
