On Wednesday 12th February 2008, Rotary Club of Medway hosted the visit of the RIBI President Alan Jagger to District 1120. The audience included District Governor 1120 Denis Spiller, three past Disrict Governors, several Assistant Governors and many Club Presidents and Rotarians from District 1120.
On Wednesday 12th, Thursday 13th and Friday 14th December 2007 Charity Collections took place at Morrisons in aid of McMillan Cancer Care. On Saturday the venue for the collection was outside Woolworths in Chatham High Street. The weather was bitterly cold on most days but, £3,100 was raised and thanks go to all those that braved the weather and contributed.
On Friday 28th September 2007 representatives from our twin club the Rotary Club of Roubaix visited us for the weekend. A reception party was held at President Ray’s house in a marquee in his garden.
On Saturday morning we took the French party to Dickens World at Chatham Maritime and spent the rest of the day around Medway at various sites related to Dickens. In the evening dinner parties were held at various Rotarian’s houses.
The weekend finished with a farewell brunch at the Millennium Hall in Rainham.
Monday 16th July The Brook Theatre was packed for the Medway Youth Service Try Angle Award Ceremony as President Ray Toms presented certificates for young people nominated in the Citizens and Environment category.
This event was organised to celebrate the achievements of young people in the community who for a variety of reasons have demonstrated character, commitment, perseverance or compassion beyond expectations.It is an opportunity to trumpet the strengths of young people in the Medway community and more specifically recognise those who are more often the silent characters in the background, reliable, honest and hardworking.
